MEETING INSTRUCTIONS:

For this meeting, there will be no physical meeting location open to the public. The Board encourages members of the public to join the meeting electronically.

Per California Governor Newsom’s Order N-29-20 and the Riverside County Health Officer’s order for the public to stay at home, the Perris Union High School District Board of Education Meeting on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. will be in a virtual/teleconference environment.

PUBLIC COMMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

For this meeting, the Board will accept Public Comments electronically only.  Public Comments will be accepted beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, until the Board reconvenes the meeting in Open Session at 5:00 p.m.  Pursuant to PUHSD Board Bylaw 9323, individual speakers shall be allowed three minutes to address the Board on each agenda or non agenda item. The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes.  A staff member will facilitate the reading of public comment submissions.

On March 12, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s Order N-25-20 authorized state and local bodies to hold public meetings via teleconferencing and waived certain requirements for teleconferenced school board meetings under the Brown Act.

On March 17, 2020, Governor Newsom’s Order N-29-20 waived additional requirements for teleconferenced school board meetings. This new order states that there is not a requirement to provide any physical location for the public to attend and participate in teleconferenced school board meetings.

On April 4, 2020, Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser “ordered that no gatherings of any number of people may take place outside of family members residing in the same home.”

Therefore, until further notice, all PUHSD school board meetings will take place via teleconference. The intention in doing so is to follow the local and state orders and protect the public health. It is also our intention to follow the Executive Orders and provide the following for teleconferenced school board meetings:

  • Provide notice stating how the public can observe and/or give public comment
  • Provide a link for the public to observe the teleconference
  • Provide a method for the public to offer public comment
  • Provide a procedure for receiving and resolving requests for reasonable accommodation from individuals with disabilities.

Instructions for public viewing of the teleconferenced school board meetings and instructions for public comments will be posted with each school board agenda.
